Use of Emdogain®

Dr. Andrea Pandolfi performs the treatment of a periodontal intrabony defect on a mandibular central incisor using the modified minimal invasive surgery technique in conjunction with Straumann® Emdogain®.

Dr. Pandolfi maintains a private practice in Aprilia, Italy focusing on perio-implantology and oral surgery and he conducts training in Periodontology and Implantology in the Course of Dental Hygiene and Dentistry Degree at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” as teaching assistant.

After flap elevation and debridement of the bone defect, Straumann® PrefGel® is applied to clean the root surface. The soft tissue is subsequently partly sutured and following irrigation, Emdogain® is applied to the bone defect. Final suturing is performed to achieve primary wound closure. Radiograph and probing two years post-operative demonstrate the stability of the outcome.
