Prof. Leonardo Trombelli demonstrates the treatment of a contained deep intrabony defect in the posterior maxilla using a minimal invasive approach in conjunction with enamel matrix derivative (Straumann® Emdogain®).
Prof. Trombelli is chair of the Department of Periodontology and Implantology of the School of Dentistry at the University of Ferrara, Italy and is director of the Research Center for the Study of Periodontal Diseases there. He is member of multiple associations such as IAP and maintains Private practice limited to Periodontology and Implantology.
Following proper probing, the bone defect is accessed using the single flap approach preserving the adjacent papilla. After granulation tissue removal and debridement, the root surface is conditioned with EDTA (Straumann® PrefGel®) and following rinsing, is treated with Emdogain®. Proper suturing and wound closure is demonstrated finally.
