maxgraft® bonebuilder in mandible including incisions by Dr. Dr. O. Blume
This animation is based on a true clinical case (surgeon Dr. Dr. O. Blume, Germany) using maxgraft® bonebuilder, a patient customized allogenic bone transplant in the mandible. For a good clinical outcome, proper soft-tissue mobilization and tension-free, saliva-proof wound closure are essential to avoid wound dehiscence. The special remote incision shown here helps to achieve proper soft tissue mobilization and tension-free, saliva-proof wound closure. After preparation of the recipient site and moderate perforation of the cortical layer, the individually designed allogenic bone block is placed on the bone defect and fixed with two flat-headed osteosynthesis screws. Additionally void volume should be filled with particulate grafting material of the surgeon‘s choice (not shown here). A slow-resorbable barrier membrane is placed above the operation site to prevent the ingrowth of soft tissue and as protection against resorption. Finally the wound is sutured tension-free and saliva-proof. The healing time is approximately 6 months. maxgraft® bonebuilder – the individually designed allogenic bone block enables complex horizontal and vertical augmentation by using the latest 3D-CAD/CAM technology.
