Clinical and histological evaluation of porcine derived collagen matrix membrane used for vertical soft tissue augmentation: a case series.

A new case series has been published on the successful application of mucoderm® to vertically thicken the soft tissue around Straumann® bone level tapered (BLT) implants.

Methods:
The study evaluated the suitability of mucoderm® to vertically thicken the soft tissue during implant placement, measured the increase of soft tissue thickness at second stage surgery and analysed histologically the tissue integration in overall 20 patients.

Results/Conclusion:
The mean thickness increase was 1.8 +- 0.13 mm with complete integration of the matrix and vascularization as seen in the host connective tissue.  No statistical differences were found.

mucoderm® was concluded to be a valid alternative for soft tissue grafting around dental implants.
